SSS FAQs

FAQ: FAQ

What's the point of a licence? What stops me going to an unlicenced person?

A licence is given by the Local Authority. You have to pay for it, follow the Councils rules and can have an inspection at any time. The License means that my property has been deemed safe and secure, I am limited to the number of dogs I can have, myself and my assistants have been assessed and are trained and responsible. We use animal safe cleaning products and have procedures in place for any eventuality.

If you go to an unlicensed person, the council may not be aware they exist so you have no security. They will have as many animals of any species on the property which may not be suitable to mix.

Always ask to see your Carers documents. Boarders should be LICENSED & INSURED like SSS.

My cat needs to go to the vet. Can you take her? Can I come or will you take her alone?

Yes to all of the above. We can transport any animal of any size, with or without you. Please call Sheryl to arrange a suitable vehicle and date/time.

Please ensure the animal is ready for collection at the agreed time and in a suitable carrier. If you need a carrier please let Sheryl know in advance but have the animal caught ready to put in. Any time spent organising the animal will be charged.

I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, fish and some chickens, what services can you offer?

This is exactly why I started SSS, I wanted to create a cheaper option for owners of multiple animals and also offer an alternative option to kennels; hence the name Sheryls SITTING service.

SSS have 3 services we can offer for this situation... I can board the dog and we can visit the other animals at yours, if your dog(s) are not dog friendly or can't cope in large groups, are old or recovering from surgery my assistant Lee has a license for just 1 family of dogs and we will still visit the other animals at yours OR ALTERNATIVELY we can sit at your house and care for all your animals there. All 3 services mean your house is also protected whilst you're away. We will collect your post, open and draw curtains, put bins out etc.

Do you have experience with rare or exotic pets?

Yes but we love to learn and widen our knowledge of care so always welcome the more unusual animals. The most unusual animal we have on our books is a meercat.

What areas do you cover?

SSS will go where the care is needed. The majority of our clients are in Stevenage, Great Ashby, Watton, Knebworth, Letchworth, Graveley. For Events we are of course happy to travel wherever required groomers - wedding - photos home for example.

NB Anywhere outside the 5 mile radius is chargeable.

Are you a kennel?

NO! All dogs that board with SSS are treated as our own and live with us as they do at yours. SSS mirror your routines as best we can.

What do I need to bring for my dogs stay with SSS?

Do not panic, when booking you will be given a 'Packing List'. For boarding please their bring food and treats, their collar (all boarders will wear the SSS tag for the duration of their stay), walking equipment and bedding.
